Understand peptides. Elevate your research.
At EOC Labs, our mission is simple:
Provide serious researchers with reliable, well-documented peptide tools — and make the science behind them easy to understand.
In this Learning Center, we’ll cover:
– **Peptide basics** – what they are and why they matter
– **How peptides are made and tested**
– **How researchers use peptides in modern science**
– **Key terms and concepts** you’ll see across our website
All content is educational and focused on **research use only**.
Peptides are short chains of amino acids – the same building blocks found in every cell and tissue in the body. In research, peptides are used to:
– Probe how receptors respond to specific signals
– Model pieces of larger proteins
– Explore pathways related to regeneration, metabolism, and cellular stress
Because each peptide has a defined sequence, researchers can run highly targeted experiments.
Our peptides are **synthetically manufactured** using solid-phase peptide synthesis. In practice, that means:
1. The peptide is built one amino acid at a time on a solid support.
2. Protective groups are used to ensure only the correct bonds form.
3. Once the full sequence is complete, the peptide is released and purified.
4. The purified peptide is lyophilized (freeze-dried) into a stable powder.
Each batch then goes through **quality control testing** before it’s made available to researchers.
EOC Labs focuses on three pillars of quality:
Peptides are produced at high purity levels appropriate for demanding research applications. Purity is determined using analytical methods such as HPLC.
Peptide identity is confirmed with techniques such as mass spectrometry and analytical chromatography.
Each lot is supported by a **Certificate of Analysis (CoA)** that provides:
– Product name and sequence
– Lot/batch number
– Purity data
– Relevant analytical notes
Some common research applications include:
– **Receptor and enzyme assays** – to see how biological targets respond to defined ligands
– **Cell signaling studies** – to interrogate pathways related to growth, metabolism, or stress
– **Antibody generation and epitope mapping** – using peptides that represent regions of larger proteins
– **Method development** – as controls, standards, or tools in assay optimization
EOC Labs does not dictate how peptides should be used in any specific experiment. Each lab is responsible for designing and validating its own protocols.
While exact conditions vary by sequence, many labs follow these general principles:
– Store lyophilized peptides in a cool, dry place, often at
−20°C for long-term stability.
– Protect vials from light and moisture.
– Use appropriate solvents and buffers based on the peptide’s sequence and charge.
– Minimize repeated freeze–thaw cycles by aliquoting when necessary.
Each institution should implement internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) for handling research materials.
EOC Labs is committed to:
– Supplying **research-only** peptides
– Providing clear, honest information about quality and intended use
– Supporting the scientific community with tools that help move research forward
